The great outdoors can inspire the spirit of adventure and an appreciation of the environment in which we live. At Yarra Valley Grammar our Outdoor Education program aims to develop in students a positive attitude towards the outdoors, and foster teamwork and co-operation. Students can participate in camps from Years 2 - 12.

Wootton Lodge is Yarra Valley Grammar's 10-hectare bushland property on Lake Glenmaggie in Central Gippsland (eastern Victoria) and is an integral part of the School's Outdoor Education Program, catering for small groups of 10 - 40.

The bush surroundings of the camp provide the perfect environment for less formal education, yet support the School’s ‘can do’ ethos by facilitating the development of skills such as independence, resilience and teamwork.

The School employs full-time specialist Outdoor Education staff to facilitate all Wootton Lodge programs.

Wootton Lodge is also available for hire to groups and is ideal for corporate training groups, class size groups, health and relaxation groups and specialised professional development courses.

Wootton Lodge Facilities

Wootton Lodge offers accommodation for groups of up to 40 and accompanying staff, the expertise of a camp manager and outdoor education instructor, a cook/cleaner, highly trained first aid staff and use of the following facilities:

  • Five Cabins, each with 8 bunk beds, shelving, outside BBQ, billy holder and table
  • Toilet/shower block close to cabins
  • A Lodge with 2 bedrooms accommodating ten, shower and toilet, large kitchen, dining room, lounge area, television, VCR, games cupboard, 2 fireplaces
  • A Recreation Room (10m x 18m) with walls that can be opened or closed depending on weather conditions, bench and sink area, fireplace, 2 table tennis tables, ample room for initiative games as well as indoor cricket, soccer and handball
  • First aid equipment
  • Outdoor equipment (canoes, rafts, rock climbing gear and bushwalking/camping gear)
  • Sporting equipment
  • UHF Radio and phone/fax
  • On site camp-out area
  • Video/TV/OHP/slide projector/whiteboard
