EXPECTATIONS OF BEHAVIOUR

General Statement

All members of the School community are expected to show:

  • Respect and care for one's self as an individual within the community
  • Concern for the welfare of others, their rights, feelings and opinions
  • Care for and sensible use of property.

Any form of behaviour regarded as inappropriate by the community at large must also be regarded as inappropriate within the School community.

1. Extremely Serious Offences

The following are regarded as extremely serious both within the School and on school activities and MAY ATTRACT A SANCTION WHICH GOES BEYOND SUSPENSION, INCLUDING EXPULSION:

  • Harassment (physical and emotional)
  • The supply or possession of alcohol or drugs or being under the influence of prohibited substances
  • Vandalism including interference with the School's computer system
  • Bringing an offensive weapon or dangerous substance to school
  • Recklessly endangering or harming others
  • Theft
  • Offensive language to a member of staff
  • Deliberate and consistent unwillingness to meet expectations, including expectations relating to attendance
  • Conduct which, in the opinion of the Principal, adversely affects the School's reputation
  • Being outside the designated bounds of the School. (Bounds are clearly marked on noticeboards.)

2. Serious Offences

The following are regarded as serious offences both within the School and on school activities, and MAY ATTRACT A SANCTION WHICH GOES BEYOND A DETENTION:

  • Smoking tobacco
  • Tampering with school property including fire hydrants
  • Projecting missiles
  • Being absent from school or an official scheduled activity without permission or acceptable excuse
  • Offensive language
  • Plagarism.

3. Students should also note that:

  • Running in and around the School buildings on any paved area is not permitted
  • Students are not permitted to bring ‘texta' style marking pens to school
  • Students are not permitted to bring cutting devices (e.g. scissors, knives, blades) to school
  • Students are not permitted to bring roller blades or skateboards to school
  • Privately owned pieces of electronic equipment must NOT be brought to school unless specifically requested by a staff member. This includes walkmans, discmans, cd-players, etc. Calculators are accepted.
  • Mobile phones are not to be used during School hours. They must be secured in lockers during School hours
  • Chewing gum is not permitted at School at any time
  • Eating in class, tutorials or assemblies is not permitted except with teacher permission.
