MUSIC

music

Yarra Valley Grammar’s commitment to the performing arts includes a comprehensive music program.

A love, understanding and appreciation of music is something students take with them through their lives. Through music, and music performance opportunities, we aim to build students’ confidence and self-esteem, as well as provide them with an alternate avenue for self-expression.

All students are introduced to practical music through the Year 2 Strings Program and the Year 7 Woodwind, Brass and Strings Program. Classroom music is taught at all year levels from the Early Learning Centre to Year 8 as a core subject, then as an elective from Years 9 to 12.

Countless opportunities exist for students to involve themselves in Yarra Valley Grammar’s music program. Our many bands, choirs, ensembles (vocal and instrumental), music camps and the School Orchestra enable students at all standards to participate and ‘have a go’.
