PERFORMING ARTS
Yarra Valley Grammar enjoys a deserved reputation as a leader in the provision of performing arts opportunities for its students. We recognise and value the role played by the performing arts in developing students’ confidence and self-esteem, as well as essential skills such as team work. Throughout each year, students at Yarra Valley Grammar have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of performing arts events. From our large scale School Musical through to smaller, more intimate presentations, students relish the chance to prepare, practice and perform for an audience. Students play key roles in the successful staging of many of our productions. They contribute through concept development, scripting, directing, costume design, acting, front-of-house and more. Our excellent facilities support the School’s commitment to the performing arts. Seating up to 900 audience members, the George Wood Performing Arts Centre is an outstanding venue that enables the staging of both large and small events. The performing arts are also present at a classroom level. Drama is incorporated throughout the Yarra Valley Grammar curriculum. It is a core subject for students in Years 7 and 8, an elective at Years 9 and 10, and is offered as VCE subjects (Drama and Theatre Studies) in Senior College.
