JUNIOR SCHOOL CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAM
Junior School students enjoy participation in a range of co-curricular activities, camps and sporting programs. The Outdoor Education program starts at Year 2 with an overnight sleepover. Years 2 and 3 students enjoy a three-day camp at Portsea, whilst Year 4 students spend three nights at Wooton Lodge, the School’s property in Central Gippsland, Year 5 students participate in a four-night camp in the Grampians. Year 6 students experience a five-day, four-night camp in an alpine environment. Junior School Music and Performing Arts opportunities include the Junior School Choir, String Orchestra and Junior School Band, as well as access to eleven different instruments taught by specialist instrumental staff. The Junior School competitive Sporting Program commences with House sport (Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country) in Year 3. In Year 4, students begin playing team sports, whilst Interschool sport begins in Year 5, and takes place on Friday afternoons (not Saturday mornings). A range of additional co-curricular activities is available to Junior School students, including chess, the Tournament of the Minds and a number of other competition-based activities. Junior School students are also involved in Yarra Valley Grammar’s social service program – Community Links. |
