CURRICULUM

curriculum-junior-school

The Junior School curriculum is one that has breadth and depth, provides access to a range of knowledge and skills, makes connections between what has been learned, relates practice and theory and links them to their social context. Our curriculum is varied and flexible, catering to the needs and preferred learning styles of each individual student.

The core Junior School curriculum includes English, Mathematics, Integrated Studies (including Science, History, Geography and Technology) and Personal Development. The sequential development of basic skills is seen as critical to long-term success.

The engaging Junior School specialist program includes Art and Craft, Physical Education, Music (both classroom and instrumental), French and sessions in the Resource Centre (library).

Online and e-learning is a prominent feature of the Junior School curriculum. There are computers in every Junior School classroom as well as two dedicated computer labs. Students use Yarra Valley Grammar’s web-based e-learning system, which features course material across a range of subject and specialist areas, and can be accessed from School or home.
