YEAR 10 CURRICULUM
The Year 10 curriculum ensures students establish a strong foundation for their final years of schooling. In addition, the increased range of elective subjects at Year 10 provides students with extensive choice, enabling them to increase their focus on personal areas of interest. Students undertake a core program of study that includes English, Maths, Physical Education, Sport, Science, Humanities, Personal Development and Careers. This program is complemented by a wide selection of electives, from which students choose eight for the year. Journalism, Packaging Design, Song and Music Writing, Digital Photography, Sports Performance and Horticulture are just a few of the numerous, tempting elective options on offer in Year 10. To provide students with the best possible chance of success in Year 12, students at Yarra Valley Grammar are able to complete a Unit 1 & 2 subject while in Year 10. Students who select this option are able to complete a Unit 3 & 4 subject in Year 11, effectively giving them an ‘extra’ subject at the end of Year 12. An important feature of the Year 10 program is work experience. Yarra Valley Grammar students participate in one week’s work experience, giving them an insight into the world of work and helping them further define areas of possible career interest. In addition, it is possible to choose to complete a second week of work experience at the end of the year. For more information please download the Senior College Curriculum booklet. |
