Inspiring Next Steps

On Friday 24 May, over 40 YOGs came back to School to inspire Yarra’s Year 12 students about their immediate next steps after school. Faculty Forums were facilitated by more established YOGs from a particular area, who asked younger YOGs studying in that area, about their course, their campus and their pathway since Yarra. The Year 12 students were then given the opportunity to ask any questions they had, that hadn’t already been covered.

Our Faculty Forums included subjects such as Engineering, Creative Arts, Law, Apprenticeships, Science, Humanities and Business. We also had a number of Alternative Pathways sessions with individual YOGs.

The Yarra students got an awful lot of very useful advice from the YOGs. Here is some of their feedback:

“I think this session helped me gain a better understanding of my options and helped me gain interest in a course.”

“It was very engaging, I felt like the YOGs wanted to actually be there, and they gave good, relevant advice.”

“Very detailed information regarding structure and subject topics studied and a good idea of what studying it would be like.”

We would like to thank everyone who was involved, for giving up their time, and for passing on their inspiration. #CareersStartHere #InspiredByYarra
