Welcome to our latest edition of YOG News.

YOG News - June 2025

We would like to formally acknowledge the announcement of Dr Merry’s retirement. Dr Merry has been a significant presence within the Yarra community, and his leadership and support will be deeply missed.

As we look ahead to the end of the year and Dr Merry’s upcoming retirement , we also continue to celebrate the many vibrant moments in the YOG and school community. We’ve recently hosted several exciting events, including the highly successful Speed Careering. We are also looking forward to upcoming opportunities to connect, such as a business networking event—details below.

Lastly, we want to hear from you!

We will soon be launching a survey to gather your thoughts on how you’d like to see YOG develop and the kinds of events and initiatives that matter most to you. Please keep an eye out for it.

Finally, thank you again for your wonderful support towards the YOG community at all of these great events.

Inspired by YOGs

We have been thrilled to be able to inspire and support our Years 10 and 12 students recently through our career initiatives.

YOG Pathways involved our more recent graduates forming panels to share their honest tertiary and alternative pathway experiences with our Year 12 students. For YOG Speed Careering, Year 10s were able to join in small group discussions with a variety of YOGs who were open and insightful about their career journeys.

We are incredibly grateful to the many of you who return to Yarra to share your wealth of knowledge with the students. We are looking forward to continuing these events in 2026! More photos from the events viewable HERE.

YOG Social

The NEW Performing Arts and Media School opens at Yarra next week and so we are excited to be hosting a new event to reconnect while having a peek at this new Yarra facility.

We invite all of our YOGs from right across the decades to save the date for Saturday 18 October! Further information will be emailed out to you all shortly.

Yarra Giving

The Yarra Foundation is an integral part of both the Yarra community and its broader outreach. If you're able, we’d love for you to consider donating and sharing the campaign on your socials — every bit helps!

Thanks to a generous community member, donations up to $50,000 will be matched during June, doubling the impact your gift to the Building Fund can have. You can show your support for Yarra at www.yvg.vic.edu.au/yarra-giving.

Old Yarra Cobras Football Club

The OYCFC has had an absolutely stellar season this year with both the men's and women's programs making the club proud against some very tough competition in the Victorian Amateur Football Association. We have learned a lot as a club and look forward to giving you all the full rundown in the upcoming edition of The Link.

It's never too early or late to get involved, you can message us on our socials, email Tim Pottage (YOG 2004) on president@oycfc.com.au, or simply come to a training or game day and meet some familiar and new friendly faces!
