To be eligible to sit a scholarship test at Yarra Valley Grammar, students must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency in Australia. The student MUST have submitted an application for enrolment to commence his/her studies at Yarra Valley Grammar in 2020 as well as the Scholarships registration.
The Edutest Scholarship examination will be held at Yarra Valley Grammar in Term 4 and a fee of $90 applies.
Academic Scholarships are offered to students entering Years 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11.
Academic Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the student’s results from an independent examination.
General Excellence Scholarships
General Excellence Scholarships are offered for entry into Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
General Excellence Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the student’s results from an independent examination and their online application.
Criteria for Selection:
- demonstrated academic achievement and potential
- excellence in one or more areas, other than academic (e.g. State or Regional Sports representation or demonstrated exceptional performance across multiple sports)
- high level of application to all classroom and extracurricular activities
- leadership within his or her areas of expertise
- potential to make a positive contribution to all school activities
Music Scholarships are offered for entry into Year 7 to11. Music Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the student’s music audition as well as the results from an independent examination. We look for students who either already have excellent skills on their instrument or show high potential to develop excellent skills.
Instrumental Scholarship applicants
Students should be learning at the following levels:
- Cello, piano, flute, clarinet, violin, saxophone - Grade 5 AMEB or above
- All other instruments - Grade 4 AMEB or above
Year 9, 10 and 11 entry
- Cello, piano, flute, clarinet, violin, saxophone - Grade 6 AMEB or above
- All other instruments - Grade 5 AMEB or above
Choral scholarship applicants
Students should ideally be able to demonstrate at least two years choral experience with a recognised national level choir such as the Australian Girls Choir, the National Boys Choir or similar. We are looking for excellent pitch. Singers who can also play a band or orchestral instrument, or piano will be looked upon favourable.
Choral applicants are required to submit a one-minute video recording (in .mov, .mp4 or .avi format) of the applicant's singing only as part of the application. The files should be emailed directly to email@example.com with child's name and date of birth once you have completed the scholarships registration with Edutest.
Music scholarship auditions will take place in Term 4.
The audition for all applicants will consist of two contrasting pieces which demonstrate the highest level performance the applicant can achieve. The audition will also have an interview component as well as aural tests and sight reading.
Auditions are held after the scholarships testing and all music scholarship applicants MUST sit the test. All applicants required for an audition will receive an email/letter detailing the audition date, time and venue.
REGISTERING FOR A SCHOLARSHIP
Please note that Scholarship registrations for 2019 are now closed. Registrations for 2020 will open early in Term 3 so please check the website in July for application details.
In addition to completing online scholarship application, please forward the following:
- photocopy of Mid-year and End of Year reports for 2017 and Semester 1 report for 2018
- photocopy of latest NAPLAN results
Please do not send ANY original documents as they will not be returned. Documents should be sent to the Marketing and Admissions Office Yarra Valley Grammar, Kalinda Road, Ringwood 3134 and clearly labelled as Documents for Scholarship Application
