We are seeking an outstanding and passionate music educator to join our Performing Arts Department for Semester 1, 2027, as a Long Service Leave replacement.

This full-time, fixed-term position offers an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Classroom Music teacher with a strong strings background to contribute to one of Victoria’s leading independent school Performing Arts programs.

Working within a collaborative team of specialist educators, the successful applicant will inspire students through engaging classroom teaching and contribute to the School’s extensive instrumental and co-curricular music program.

About the Role

The successful applicant will:

  • Teach Classroom Music across Years 7–12, including senior secondary classes where appropriate
  • Contribute specialist expertise in Strings and string education
  • Provide instrumental string tuition as required
  • Conduct and rehearse one or more co-curricular string ensembles
  • Support students in preparation for concerts, festivals and other performance opportunities
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of curriculum, ensemble programs and Performing Arts initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with a highly skilled team to foster student engagement, participation and musical excellence
About You

  • Excellence in Classroom Music teaching
  • Strong expertise as a strings educator and musician
  • Effective conducting, rehearsal and ensemble leadership skills

Desirable Experience
  • Experience teaching senior secondary Music
  • Experience conducting string ensembles within a school setting
  • Experience providing instrumental string tuition
  • Experience working within a comprehensive school instrumental music program
  • Experience preparing students for concerts, festivals, competitions and other performance opportunities
  • A commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in music education
