Yarra Valley Grammar will be offering limited scholarships for students entering Years 9-12. More information regarding registration and testing will be updated during Term 1, 2027 with testing to take place in Term 2, 2027. All scholarships will be finalised in Term 2, 2027. The level of the scholarship will be determined by the Principal and will remain the same for the duration of the schooling at Yarra Valley Grammar.
Families seeking enrolment for entry into Years 9 - 12 are encouraged to go through the standard enrolment process because of limited availability of places. This does not limit their consideration for a scholarship place later as part of the scholarships process. All scholarship applicants are required to apply for enrolment prior to registering for a scholarship.

Academic Scholarships (Years 9-12)
Academic Scholarships are based on the student's three most recent school reports and any testing results completed at Yarra Valley Grammar. For scholarship purposes, NAPLAN results, including Year 5, Year 7 and if applicable Year 9, will also be considered.
General Excellence Scholarships (Years 9-12)
General Excellence Scholarships are awarded on the following basis:
• Demonstrated academic achievement and potential
• Excellence in one or more areas other than academic: State or Regional Sports representation or demonstrated exceptional performance across multiple sports aligned with Yarra Valley Grammar’s sporting program
• High level of application to all classroom and co-curricular activities
• Leadership within their areas of expertise
• Willingness to make a positive contribution to all school activities
Music Scholarships (Years 9-10)
Music scholarships are offered to students who demonstrate excellence, or strong potential to develop excellence, in instrumental or vocal music through a formal audition process. Applicants are also required to meet the School’s academic standards as evidenced by testing and supporting documentation. Music Scholarships will be awarded on the following basis:
• Demonstrated performance level on chosen instrument or voice
• Musicality, aural awareness and technical proficiency
• Potential for ongoing musical development
• Capacity to contribute to the School’s ensemble program
• Commitment to participation in the co-curricular music program
• Demonstrated academic achievement and potential
• High level of application to all classroom and co-curricular activities
• Leadership within their areas of expertise
• Willingness to make a positive contribution to all school activities
Performance Standard (Guide)
Students are typically performing at the following levels (or equivalent):
• AMEB Grade 6 or above: piano, strings, flute, clarinet, saxophone
• AMEB Grade 5 or above: all other instruments
Audition Requirements
• Two contrasting performance pieces
• Aural tests and sight-reading
• Short interview
Scholarship recipients are expected to actively participate in the School’s music program, including ensemble rehearsals, performances and major events.
Indigenous Scholarships - The Indigenous Scholarship is a 50% concession on tuition fees offered to students of indigenous Australians who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders and provide relevant supportive documentation. Indigenous Scholarships are not restricted to certain year levels only.
