The Yarra Foundation actively fundraises to secure the School's future and supports its building, scholarship and library programs.

Great schools like ours don't just happen. Back in the early 1960s, a group of individuals had the vision for an Anglican boys' school in the eastern suburbs. People such as Messrs Harper, Clarke, Hughes, Annells, and Plummer. Without our 'Founders' the School would never have become a reality when it opened its doors in 1966 with just 135 students.

The Yarra Foundation was established in 1988 and carries on the tradition and vision of our School's Founders by envisioning where the School might be in the future and turning those dreams into reality.
Like other great schools, the Yarra Foundation actively fundraises to secure Yarra’s future and support its building program. Since its establishment, the Yarra Foundation’s Building Fund has become an integral part of the life of the School, working in harmony with the School Board and enriching our students’ educational environment. Construction of facilities at Yarra Valley Grammar has benefited through the support of the Building Fund, made possible through the generosity of our School community. As our School continues to grow, the Building Fund remains essential in helping us create inspiring, modern spaces where students can learn, create and thrive.
The Scholarship Fund allows support to be directed to a range of scholarships across the School, including those for students attending our Hearing Unit. These scholarships create life‑changing opportunities by enabling deserving young people to access a Yarra Valley Grammar education regardless of financial circumstance. Through the generosity of our community, the Scholarship Fund helps broaden the diversity and talent within the School, enriching the experience for all students. It also supports families who may otherwise be unable to provide this educational pathway for their children. As Yarra looks to the future, the Scholarship Fund plays a vital role in ensuring that a Yarra education remains accessible, inclusive and reflective of the values on which the School was founded.
The Library Fund supports the continual development of a rich and dynamic learning environment within the Research Centre Library. This Fund provides students with access to a diverse selection of innovative digital resources as well as high‑quality traditional materials, ensuring they can explore, inquire and learn in ways that best suit their interests and needs. The Library Fund also allows the School to curate programs and collections that spark curiosity and deepen understanding across all year levels. In 2023, for example, the Yarra Foundation organised a special First Nations celebration that highlighted culturally significant stories and perspectives, strengthening the educational impact of the library’s collection. You can read more about this initiative by following the link below. Through ongoing support, the Library Fund helps the Research Centre remain an inspiring hub of knowledge, creativity and connection for every student.
Yarra Foundation has a long term and integrated approach to resourcing the School for its future success, while still providing immediate benefits for our current students and their families.
